Business Description: City Light Gas and Water (CLGW), your city-owned utility company since 1941, provides the City of Kennett with electric, gas, water, sewer, and internet services. CLGW facilities and service systems include a 40-megawatt power plant, four electric substations, gas pipe lines, a water production and waste water treatment plant, and an expanding fiber optic communication system. CLGW provides services to approximately 6,000 residential and business customers and prides itself in having some of the lowest utility rates in the area.
CLGW is governed by a four-member board whose members are appointed by the mayor of Kennett and approved by the city council. The Kennett Board of Public Works is responsible for establishing CLGW’s policies, rules, and regulations that govern the day-to-day operations of the utility system.
The Superintendent of Utilities manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of CLGW. The workforce of CLGW consists of 73 employees who are members of seven different departments. CLGW employees are a part of this community and are ready to provide the City of Kennett with the best utility service possible.
The Kennett Board of Public Works is a proud member of the American Public Power Association, the Missouri Public Utility Alliance, and the American Public Gas Association.
Our mission is to provide the best possible service, at the lowest possible price, to all of our customers.
